Stephany Matos
Veterinarian
Hi, my name is Dr. Matos, and I am a veterinarian here. I have always believed in the profound connection a person can have with their pet, and it is that belief that drives everything I do.
Favorite Part of My Job
I am deeply grateful to have fulfilled my lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian. What I love most is building genuine connections with pets and their families through kind, compassionate care.
Why I Chose This Profession
My first dog, Tilly, taught me that loyalty and compassion are among the greatest gifts that come with owning a pet. That relationship sparked a passion for helping animals that has only grown stronger over the years. Through the years, I have shared my home with a wonderful variety of animals — hamsters, guinea pigs, iguanas, parakeets, and dogs. I currently care for my beloved ferret, Scoop, and guinea pigs, Peppa and Smudge.
Education
I began my journey by earning a Bachelor of Science in Zoology at SUNY Oswego in upstate New York. I then studied veterinary medicine at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, West Indies, before returning to the U.S. to complete my clinical year at Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Massachusetts.
Work History
During my undergraduate studies, I worked as a kennel assistant — grooming and feeding dogs — and as a veterinary assistant at a local animal hospital. Those early experiences gave me a strong foundation and confirmed that this was exactly the career I was meant for.
